Fishing with Kids

I can’t think of a better way to spend time…fishing with kids. Being out on the boat or on a rivers edge, away from the TV or Playstation, provides a real opportunity to talk and learning a great deal about life.

The beaming pride when my three-year old caught his first fish. The first time my older son caught, prepared and then ate his fish at home. Not only is this enjoyable but we have a responsibility to take them out fishing. Studies have shown that fewer kids are fishing today and their connection to nature is dwindling.  Kids need to know that fish are to be respected and they don’t come in plastic wrap from the grocery store. They should come from wild rivers and wild places, like the Yukon.

Following are some posts that I’ve written on fishing with kids. If you have any experiences, photos, reports or stories related to this very subject, please contact me and I’ll post them.
