From Catherine, Mom making her daughter proud!
Hey All,
I caught this ling cod (just an inch shy of 3 feet) when I went ice fishing on the Yukon River last night. I was only out there for 45 minutes when I got the bite: I put quite a big piece of bait on my hook so I knew what I caught was big because while I sat there, with my headlamp shining in the hole on the bait, daydreaming about what colour to paint the new staff house, the bait disappeared! I was sitting on my bucket (like you do when you are ice fishing) and I had to stand up so it would clear the hole! How exciting! That’s my 14 year old daughter, Marley, looking disgusted with me.

PS Did I mention that I had to wrestle it to get my hook back…
Dennis here...thanks to Adam for the following clarification:
I called the C.O. at Environment and got a clarification on the night-light. As long as the light is not ‘in the water’, it is permissible to use a light. Yes, you can shine your light at the hole (from above, of course).
