January 02, 2008 - Pumphouse Lake Yukon Ice Fishing Report

DSC02238

After a dissapointing Hidden Lakes trip, my thoughts were on to Pumphouse Lake.  A great and productive lake with many feisty little Rainbow ready to snap at shrimp or other presentation.  This was a kids ice fishing trip so no expectations and plenty of distractions.  Carl and I took off early to set up.  I borrowed a friends auger and punched in eight holes in a jiffy.  It was cold, minus 25 celcius with a little wind.  We knew we had about 30mins. to an hour and a half with the kids.  we quickly set up some tip-ups and started rigging their gear.  The kids were great, hot dogs, hot chocolate and lots of fun.  Unfortunately no fish.  The kids did great lasting over an hour and no complaining.  Pumphouse is usually a hit with fish but no worries, kids got to wet a line.
