May 17, 2008 - Pumphouse Lake Kayak Fishing

It’s close to midnight and I can’t sleep. I am just too wired after my first kayak fishing experience. Kalin (from Up North Adventures) and I hit Pumphouse lake with a couple of new sit-on-top fishing kayaks. We had two models, one a 13 foot wilderness systems and another a 15 foot Perception kayak. Each one is designed and rigged up for kayak fishing with special rod holders, cargo holds, wider design and a bunch more features that Kalin can tell you about it you visit the store.  Back to Pumphouse Lake...its open but the fish are still a little lethargic. No major hatches to speak of, not much structure to hide in and the water is high.  There was some action with a couple nice little Rainbow being caught and released.  The fishing is still inconsistent but should be picking up soon.
