March 23, 2008 - Hidden Lakes Ice-Fishing with the Fry

Ice-Fishing Hidden Lakes
It’s always nice when you plan a little excursion, invite a few people and everyone shows up. The good news is that we had a dozen kids there, the bad news is that its very difficult to catch rainbows with kids there. We fished the narrows of hidden #1 with about 6 holes and 6 rods. Once again, not a nibble. Of course who knows if the fish were nibbling given the fact that we were busy entertaining 12 kids under the age of seven for two and a half hours. I do believe you have to concentrate to feel any soft rainbow touch. In all honesty it was a great day with everyone in great spirits and the kids having a good time being outside and fishing 5% of the time. A quick recap, we tried a few different presentations at around 5-12 feet in depth. Some around the sticks some in the middle of the channel. I’ve had good luck catching Kokannee in this stretch as well.
