May 30, 2009 - Hidden Lakes Fishing Spin and Fly X 2
I love the Hidden Lakes. Unfortunately I don’t think they love me. I made a trip with the kids during the day. Conditions perfect, slightly overcast, drizzling, lots of bug activity, with fish rising all over the place. You think we could have hooked into something? We tried four different set-ups. 1. the weight with powerbait set-up about twelve to sixteen inches from the weight. 2. Bobber with weight and powerbait suspended from surface. 3. the bobber and fly retrieve and 4. traditional cast and retrieve. Nothing.
I saw so many fish I thought to myself that if I only came out without the kids I would catch these fish. Cam back in the evening with the fishing kayak and tried to fish; trolling with leeches and droppers, and chironomids with a dry line on long leader. Nothing.
Hidden Lakes 2, Dennis 0. Good thing it is early in the series. I’ve got my best line coming back from injury for game 2.
