Yukon River Grayling Report (from Bruce)

June 22, 2006 at 6:17 pm

Hey Dennis -

If you’re interested, here’s a pic of a couple pics from the other evening, including a healthy grayling I hooked into right in our backyard on the Yukon. I’m finding that swinging soft hackle wire bodies can be really productive for these beauties.

I also included a pic of the fly that you see in that pike pic I sent previously. Here’s the recipe for that fly (it’s very simple, and durable - just the way I like ‘em):

4x Streamer Hook

Thread: Black Monocord

Body: Black Ice Chenille, and White Rabbit Zonker strip (cut as long, and half again, as the hook length).

Wing: Chartreuse Flashabou and then Black Bucktail over it

Also works well in yellow and red rabbit body as well.

Enjoy your vacation!

tight lines,

Bruce
