Whitehorse Fishway Wishes A Good Spawn for All & Some Ray Troll Art

September 05, 2007 at 9:19 pm

The final count for salmon through the ladder is a grand total of 427. There were 260 males (95 wild and 165 hatchery) and 167 females (96 wild and 71 hatchery). It’s been a slow year but hopefully we will see an improvement in the years to come. The staff here at the Whitehorse Fishway would like to thank everyone for their support this season.

Dennis here…thanks to the Whitehore Fishway for another great year. Hopefully this is a minor bump in the population and they will be back in force for next year. The concept of “a good spawn” got me thinking about the great art of Alaska-based Ray Troll. The funk, humour and grim reality in his fish-art have always been inspirational. His website has a great gallery and online shopping if intersted. I pulled a couple of his designs in honour of the Whitehorse Fishway and the need for the Yukon Kings to “spawn and die”.
