What is now a tradition and will become a weekly event, myself and the boys visited the fish ladder. Rather than dig into my pockets for a couple of loonies, I bought the $10 family pass. There were no Chinook yet, but still plenty to do. My four year old is at the age now where I can explain the life cycle of the Yukon River Salmon and the connection to releasing the fry at Wolf Creek. I have to hand it to the Fish and Game Association and Yukon Energy for the attraction they offer. The best value for the suggsted $2 donation in town.
Here is a top ten list from the perspective of my two and four year olds:
1. They can see some big fish;
2. They can run up and down the ramp;
3. They can colour at the table;
4. They can put their noses right up to the big window;
5. They can check out the First Nations tent;
6. They can stare at the cameras, and scream when they see fish;
7. They can climb up to the netting area and watch staff handle the fish;
8. They can watch the fast water scream over the dam;
9. They can stick their heads in the holes in the fence to see the fish approach the ladder;
10. They can see the fish that they released come back home.
